Decorating with Tesoro

With all the Tesoro tile and trim combinations, decorating possibilities are endless!

Shown here is Tesoro's Corion series in Verona and Alabastro, 12x12 with 24-inch Rosone medallion and 6 x 12 Treccia border.

In this section, we will review shade variation and patterning with tile, and what to do BEFORE you tile.

Shade Variation (CTDA)

The Ceramic Tile Distributors Association (CTDA) recommends that you view several pieces from the same production to determine acceptable shade variations. While today’s technology reduces variations greatly, there are actually options to find broader differences to enhance your decorating objectives.

Generally, the clarifications are:

V1 (Uniform)  Minimal to no difference in color among pieces from the same production run.
V2 (Slight) Distinguishable differences in texture and/or pattern within similar colors.
V3 (Moderate) Colors will be in same family among pieces, but may vary significantly.
V4 (Random) Random color variation from tile to tile. This makes for a unique installation.

Patterning

Patterning is really a great design option that some people sometimes fail to consider. The combinations and/or finishes are endless, and can dramatically change the look of your room, as well as reflect one’s traits of personality and style. When it comes to tile flooring, it is often appealing to think beyond “square” when given so many sizes and options. Remember, it is a personal preference, so pick the pattern that works best for your project! Click here to go to the Patterns/Tile Possibilities section for several options.
