Tile Trends
|
Tile is taking off in many directions, especially in the design arena. The introduction of porcelain and natural stone, like many products in the Tesoro collection, is a significant advancement in tile design and production. Also, the ability to produce tile in so many varied shapes and sizes and patterns is pushing the industry forward, and Tesoro is leading the pack in that field as well.

| CERSAIE, the world’s largest exhibition of ceramic and porcelain tile and bathroom furnishings, is an annual event that takes place in Bologna, Italy, where more than 1,000 exhibitors from 30-plus countries display their latest designs and show off their latest technologies. Last year, more than 100,000 people attended the show to see what might be next on the tile horizon. And the folks from Tesoro were there, too, making sure that the very best and most interesting selections from around the world became a part of the collection. |

Looking ahead, stone and stone-look floors are increasing in the marketplace. Cool grays and coppers and blacks have become an extremely desirable niche, featuring tiles with deep clefts and bold texture. Also, earth tones are making quite an impression on the tile-buying public as well as on designers and builders.
Mossy greens and nutty browns are following what seems to be a trend back to earthtones and nature-inspired designs. For an example of these rustic stone qualities, check out Tesoro tile series Appi Antica, Byblos or Cerdomus Tuscany, shown at left.

Glass and glass-look accents featuring unique design patterns also made a big splash at CERSAIE. Speaking of splash, some of these broad patterns are designed to mimic the swirl and flow of water. Check out Tesoro's Melange line of listellos for an example. With a wider palette of materials and colors to choose from, including glass and metallics and a turn to aquatic colors, this exciting trend is sure to continue to develop as the possibilities for mixing and matching patterns, styles and colors expand.
